Presentation: Next Generation Data Centres - Tiers, Design and Efficiency

Computing and Data Centres have evolved significantly since the 1960's when large mainframes on raised floors was the norm. Network, compute and storage infrastructure capacity and density has increased by magnitudes, and the increased power consumption and heat loads need to be managed properly to reduce costs.

Data Centres now play a key role in everyday life and designs that enable availability are as important as the computers themselves. Environmental considerations are now a major factor in DC design, as DC's consume a significant amount of power globally, and power and cooling efficient architecture reduces overall carbon impact.

The 4 major areas that will be presented are:
- Data Centre Ratings
- Power Efficiency
- Cooling efficiency
- Building, room, rack design
