Topic: Encouraging Computer Science Literacy Through Robotics
 
How can we engage and develop students' interest in computer science in school?  Daniel Atkins will share how his school division is using robotics to encourage computer science literacy for its students.  He will also reflect on the current state of computer science in education and the need for partnership with post-secondary institutions and local computer science industry.
 
 
Speaker: Daniel Atkins
 
Daniel Atkins has been teaching computer science for 3 years at a high school level, and robotics for 2 years.  He has a BSc in Electronic Engineering and a BEd.  Daniel encourages his students to become involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related activities in order to strengthen STEM in Saskatchewan.
