Computer Science Education Week is the largest educational campaign in history.  As of January 2015, 100 million hours of time has been donated by many volunteers and educators to perform the "Hour of Code" event throughout the world.  In keeping with the Computer Science Education theme, an interactive presentation and discussion will take place highlighting the current and future needs in industry and how that relates to computational thinking input in to the K – 12 educational and post-secondary education environments.
 
 
Speaker: Terry Peckham
 
Terry Peckham has been a faculty member with the Computer Systems Technology Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic for the past 12 years.  Terry received his MSc in Computer Science from the University of Regina and his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan.  For the past 4 years, Terry has been released from his instructional duties to pursue applied research with industrial partners full-time.  He is currently representing Saskatchewan Polytechnic in two working groups in conjunction with the U of S, U of R, government agencies and SaskTech.  These working groups are looking at how to increase computational aspects into the K-12 system in Saskatchewan as well as possible short-term and long-term modifications to the post-secondary Computer Science programs to better meet industries current and future challenges.
