Topic: "Introduction and Overview of the IRAP Program"
The presentation will provide an overview of NRC-IRAP, the Industrial Research Assistance Program.  IRAP provides a range of business and technical advisory and funding services for Canadian technology-based SMEs with the objective of accelerating the growth and success of these companies.  We hope to generate discussion about where IRAP fits in the in the overall range of federal innovation programs and also talk about IRAP and its partner organizations and programs that are supportive of international business development for Canadian companies.
Brent Serbin, Industrial Technology Advisor

Brent Serbin is an IRAP ITA (Industrial Technology Advisor) based in Regina.  Brent has an M.Sc.E.E. from Queen's University and has completed an Executive Development program at Stanford University.
Brent is a veteran of the high-tech industry with 35 years of experience in R&D, product development and advanced manufacturing.  During his career, Brent has worked at Develcon Electronics, the Alberta Microelectronic Center, Nortel Networks and recently at Flextronics where he was SVP, Chief Design Officer responsible for the management of 12 design centers, 800 employees located on 4 Continents.
Brent is now focused on assisting Canadian Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients with technology innovation to achieve long-term business growth. He provides strategic business and technology advice to founders and management teams. Brent wants to develop linkages between academic, public and private sector organizations to further technology innovation on a national and international scale. He has engagements with IRAP clients in fields such as Smart Ag, Fin-tech, microelectronics, software development, communication networks, advanced manufacturing and related areas.
