The Maker Movement has swept the world with a new creative philosophy. Empowered by modern digital technologies, creative people are now able to build items that were previously only possible through expensive mass production. This talk will present a brief history of the Maker movement and an introduction to CrashBang Labs, Regina's makerspace!
Speaker: Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith is a 30 year veteran of the IT industry in Saskatchewan, having worked as a systems analyst, database analyst and Project manager prior to his retirement in 2013. He is a graduate of SIAST with a diploma in Data Processing from 1982 which he augmented with many courses over the years including a Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University and a PMP designation from the Project Management Institute.  Kevin sat on the Professional Advisory Committee for the Business Information Systems program at Saskatchewan Polytech for 10 years and continues to be involved in the ThinkIT training program for teens at that institution. Kevin is currently the president of CrashBang Labs, Regina's makerspace.
