CIPS Live Webinar: "Technology Trends and the Risk Intelligent CIO"

CIOs face a unique and unprecedented challenge today.  Emerging Technology trends are becoming compelling business realities and viable propositions at a rapid pace. Five macro forces—digital, analytics, cloud, the re-imagining of core systems, and the changing role of IT within the enterprise drive these trends.  Though the technology advances we see today embody potential, only a select few may ultimately deliver real value. CIOs are expected to help sift through the noise to identify truly groundbreaking innovations that are relevant and can deliver value to their respective organizations.  Then CIOs need to act. Passively wondering and waiting are not options.

Many of these Tech Trends tend to be a double edged sword. On one hand if the organization does not do anything about them, that may present a strategic risk in losing market share to competitors who may leverage them. On the other hand, if the organization embraces the trends that also poses several risks in implementing change and managing the risks inherent in harnessing emerging technology to deliver value.

This session explores how CIOs in leading organizations adopt a “risk intelligent” approach to dealing with both strategic upside and tactical downside risks, while partnering with businesses and creating net new value.

After a brief tour of significant 2017 Tech Trends, the session will introduce the “Risk intelligent CIO” and how technology adoption risk management models can help balance risks and reward. The session will illustrate these ideas with real life examples to bring home the key messages.
