The changing role of IT in the digital enterprise - IT is too important to leave to IT

In digital enterprises, IT is used as a strategic asset that creates competitive advantage. This places higher and seemingly conflicting demands on the enterprise’s IT function:

IT has to be innovative, responsive and resilient, all at the same time. Organizations want to know how to change their operating models to respond to these demands. IT functions are shifting from centralized IT ‘castles’, to a multidisciplinary and agile ‘movements’. Thought patterns are moving from traditional manufacturing paradigms to design thinking and product thinking that are better suited to drive innovation and development. But this is not just about a reorganization of the IT department – IT is too important to leave to IT!

Business leaders are striving to develop stronger digital leadership. They are making better IT decisions and realizing more value from their investments. The bottom line: things will change; make sure that they don’t change without you.
