CIPS AB Edmonton March 30th Student Event: "Information Technology Practice and Professionalism" (University of Alberta)
Date:
Wed, 03/30/2016
Event Location:
(Edmonton)

CIPS is about professionalism in IT:  a Code of Ethics; continued professional development; competency in practice.

CIPS could well help you find your first job.  Many positions are not posted.  Those looking to fill positions often go to their network to find candidates.  CIPS, as a professional association, provides  access to the most useful networks there are as a professional.

You could learn all sorts of things that you could use in making your career decisions.  Some things will work better for your career than others.  There could be someone in CIPS that would be glad to tell you about career paths, working for small or large companies, being a consultant, teaching .....

You will be able to get real help in achieving professional designations.  CIPS confers the Information Systems Professional (provincial with national recognition) designation and the Information Technology Certified Professional (international) designation.

You can share the benefits that are offered to CIPS members.

We invite you to come and join us for a discussion on CIPS.   The presentation will take place on March 30, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Computing Sciences Centre (CSC) 3-33 on the University of Alberta campus.  The presenter will be Ken Bainey.

Ken has been a member of CIPS for over 15 years.  He has over 35 years of award winning and innovative 'hands-on' IT experience as a CIO and senior IT practitioner with Government and large private sector companies.

He has written and published two highly recognized text books related to IT management.
