Global ICT Education Conference Seeks Presenters

IFIP SaITE 2016 Conference Issues Call for Papers

Thursday 3 December 2015 :One of the world’s most important conferences exploring the use of technology in education, IFIP SaITE 2016, has issued a Call for Papers inviting potential speakers to submit their ideas for presentations and workshops.

To be held in Guimarães, Portugal from 6-8 July 2016, SaITE is a joint conference of IFIP TC3, the Technical Committee for Education within the global ICT professional body, the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).

For educators, researchers and policy makers, the conference will explore five key areas under the central topic of ‘Stakeholders and Information Technology in Education’:

•          linking formal and informal education;

•          researching transformation of applications of technologies in educational contexts;

•          exploring implications of computer science education;

•          preparing a new generation of computer professionals; and

•          strategic use and professional development in policy and management.

Conference Co-Chair, Cathy Lewin of Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, said SaITE will provide a unique forum for teachers, academics, researchers and other stakeholders to share and discuss the latest developments, methodologies and insights around the teaching and application of technology in education.

“We invite people working in these fields to present their current projects and findings relating to how IT in education is being adopted and used by different stakeholders, such as students, teachers, parents, or advisers,” she said.

“By bringing together thought leaders and experts in the field of technology in education, we will enable people involved in this important field to share ideas, update their knowledge and skills, and find out about the latest breakthroughs to enhance their research or teaching outcomes.”

Conference Co-Chair, Don Passey of Lancaster University, UK, said the event has been designed to attract a broad audience.

“Since SaITE 2016 brings together all the different groups within TC3, IFIP’s Education Technical Committee, there will be presentations and workshops covering the full gamut of educational spheres and disciplines, including school-based learning, professional and vocational education, and the use of technology in education management,” he said.

SaITE 2016 offers a range of options for presentations including:

•          academic research papers,

•          shorter position papers, case studies, policy papers or national perspectives,

•          symposia exploring a theme through a collection of related papers,

•          project discussions, system presentations and workshops,
