ITU-UNWOMEN: Gender Equality and Mainstreaming Technology Awards (GEM-TECH Awards 2014)

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we have received more than 50 nominations till date from different stakeholders worldwide for the GEM-TECH Awards 2014. We look forward to receiving your organization’s nomination before the 5^th of September. In response to  Resolution 70 (Rev. Guadalajara, 2010) on “gender mainstreaming in ITU and promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women through information and communication technologies” and  the ITU Gender Equality and Mainstreaming (GEM) policy that was adopted at the ITU Council, at its 2013 session, the SG has launched the annual GEM-TECH Awards in collaboration with UN WOMEN.(http://www.itu.int/en/action/women/gem/Pages/award.aspx)

These will be conferred for the first time at the 2014 *ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-14) in Busan, Republic of Korea* in partnership with UN Women and will inter alia celebrate and commemorate the *20th anniversary of the Beijing+20 review of the implementation of the Beijing  Declaration and Platform for Action *and its impending implementation review in 2015.

The  ITU-UN Women GEM-TECH Awards are open to all stakeholders and will be awarded in *seven categories*covering crucial topics of gender equality and mainstreaming in and through ICTs. The categories are listed here http://www.itu.int/en/action/women/gem/Pages/award.aspxPlease note that you can nominate *organizations, individuals and self-nominations*are also permitted.

We encourage you to nominate your projects and deserving individual for the awards in the relevant categories.
