CIPS Certification and International Recognition - One Step Closer

The IP3 accreditation visit took place during the week of August 25, 2008. A team of three senior IP3 accreditation assessors and one independent observer visited the CIPS offices in Mississauga, Ontario to review the organization and the newly created Canadian I.T. Professional standard against the IP3 standard. Over the course of three days, the team met with the senior CIPS management team, CIPS members, members from the Provincial Associations, and a number of individuals representing industry stakeholder groups.

It is anticipated that the results of the accreditation visit will be presented to CIPS sometime during the last fiscal quarter of 2008. If successful, CIPS will become the first North American accredited society, providing us with the privilege to award the IP3 International I.T. Professional (IITP) designation to all eligible members.

In August 2008, the Australian Computer Society (ACS) became the first professional body to be IP3 accredited. Congratulations to the ACS for its demonstration of leadership in creating a profession for I.T.
