CIPS Completes Grandparenting Process for I.S.P. Holders

The grandparenting process of all I.S.P. holders into the new CIPS IITP aligned standard (and eventually the IITP standard) has now been completed. We have recorded those who have indicated they wish to opt out of the grandparenting.

Individuals who have applied for the I.S.P. prior to August 1, 2008 and who are successful in the application process will receive a form with their letter of approval allowing them to opt-out of the grandparenting.

The CIPS Marketing Committee in conjunction with the CIPS Professional Standards Committee is actively working on researching and agreeing to the most appropriate name for the new standard. The Canadian I.T. Professional name was used as an interim working title for the CIPS IITP aligned standard. This was necessary to allow us to communicate the new standard to I.S.P. holders and to seek accreditation status under the IP3 umbrella.

Although the grandparenting process has been completed, I.S.P. holders should not be using the Canadian I.T. Professional title or any acronym at this time. The formal title will be announced as soon as possible. Once the title has been decided, certificates will be made available to all eligible holders.

The formal CIPS IITP aligned standard application process will become available via the CIPS website in the coming weeks.
