CIPS Manager Professional Standards Assumes AAAC Chair Role

Gina van Dalen, CIPS Manager Professional Standards, assumed the role of Chair of the Association of Accrediting Agencies of Canada (AAAC) at the organization’s annual meeting in Ottawa. She takes over the role from Janis Leonard, Manager of Accreditation at the Ontario College of Teachers. Founded in 1994, the AAAC provides a collaborative forum and a collective voice for the community of organizations in Canada that assess the quality of higher education programs. AAAC represents its members on issues of educational quality facing institutions of higher education, to governments, students, and the public. AAAC advances the knowledge, skills, good practices, and ethical commitments of accreditors, and communicates the value of accreditation as a means of enhancing educational quality.

"I am very excited to chair the AAAC this year and support completely its vision to promote excellence in standards and processes of accreditation" said Gina.  "I look forward to working closely with the AAAC Executive Team. There is much we can do to build out the AAAC services to ensure that it serves all of its 40+ members effectively."

The role of Chair rotates annually and Ms. van Dalen will continue serving on the AAAC Executive in the role of Past Chair starting in the spring of 2014.
