Description

No Network, No Problem
Building Offline Capability In Mobile GIS Apps

Speaker: Evan Kirkwood

Mobile access to Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions is seen by many organizations as a competitive advantage. Offline access is proving a mandatory requirement when mobilizing such systems. Often, users can find themselves operating in remote locations where data connections are slow or non-existent. With mobile devices – the iPad in particular – proliferating in business, an exciting opportunity to address this challenge exists.

Evan will present strategies for enabling offline capability in mobile GIS solutions, and specific examples leveraging the capabilities of the Apple iOS platform and hardware and the ESRI ArcGIS Runtime for iOS, a robust native framework for developing mobile GIS Apps. The topic is particularly relevant to organizations dealing with geographic information, and especially those presently utilizing ESRI ArcGIS products.
