Presentation Overview

A very important part of our professionalism efforts should be discussions about Ethics. There will be a short review of the CIPS Code of Ethics that we have all signed, and a more general discussion about the definition of Ethics and why they require that we have ongoing discussion or at least ongoing thoughts about them.

Donna will present some of her thoughts and questions about specific issues. How much are we ethically required to tell our clients/ customers? What impact might ethics have on IT Architecture? How are IT Ethics different from Business Ethics? Most importantly, how can CIPS gather such questions and build some consensus about them?

Speaker Biography

Donna Lindskog is an Information Systems Professional (I.S.P.) and has her Masters degree in Computer Science from the University of Regina. She has worked in the IT industry since 1978. Most of those years were at SaskTel where she progressed from Programmer, to Business Analyst, to Manager. At one point she had over 48 IT positions reporting to her and she has experience outside of IT managing Engineers.

Donna has had extensive involvement with CIPS including executive work as Director of Professionalism and chair of the Saskatchewan IT Sector Partnership. In 2004 Donna worked on the committee that developed an updated version of the national CIPS Code of Ethics and Standard of Conduct. Donna retired from SaskTel in November of 2011 and has since been taking University classes including a class about Ethics.
