This interactive point-based assessment tool will allow you to quantify your eligibility for the I.S.P. This is self-assessment tool is only available for applicants applying under the experience/education or experience/exam routes. A positive assessment result (100 points or more) does not mean that your I.S.P. application will be automatically approved. All applicants will still be required to complete the I.S.P. application form, which then will undergo a detailed assessment by the CIPS Certification Council to determine your eligibility for the designation. |
Experience Credits
Experience credits can only be assigned for professional level work. Some examples of professional work activities would include: systems analysis and design, data base analysis or administration, systems programming, hardware design, telecommunications, systems planning or analysis, research involving I.T., management of I.T. activities, maintenance where design or analysis is included, teaching I.T. at a professional level, sales or marketing where professional level recommendations are required. Activities in operation of equipment, use of computer programs or equipment, coding from detailed specifications are not normally considered to be at the professional level.
Give yourself 10 points for every year of professional experience. Please note: When officially assessing the professional experience of an applicant, one year of professional experience is not always counted as a full 10 points by the CIPS Review Committee. Only the portion of the position that is deemed to be professional I.T. related work is given credit. Therefore, 5 years of work may not always equate to 50 points - Be Conservative in Your Points Allocation.
Important: An applicant needs to have a minimum of 1000 hours (not points) of professional experience in the year preceding application.
Education Credits
Education credits can only be assigned for a successfully completed post-secondary education from either an accredited or a non-accredited university or college program that is a minimum of 2 years in length. Enter only credits for your highest education (e.g. if you graduated from a relevant college and also hold a relevant university degree, only assign credit for the university program - not both)
Graduates from one year post-diploma programs can only receive credit if their program has been accredited. No education credits can be assigned for such non-accredited programs.
