Interview Process

The Certification Council has introduced an application process specifically for individuals who are applying for their I.S.P. under the Experience Only route.

The employment detail pages in the standard I.S.P. application are quite detailed and take a fair amount of effort to complete, especially for those individuals applying under the experience only category. This level of detail is required in order to properly assess the application. On the other hand, it is, typically, fairly easy for an assessor of the application to determine whether the applicant’s experience qualifies. Thus, the concept of providing an interview method for assessing experience arose.

Policies and Procedures pertaining to the Interview Process for I.S.P. Applicants

Policies:

a) An interview process to assess and rate relevant Information Technology (IT) experience will only be considered for I.S.P. applicants who are applying under the Experience Only route.

b) Interviews will be conducted via a taped conference call.

c) All materials relevant to the interview process need to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar at least seven (7) working days prior to the interview.

d) After the interview process, the factual information in the assessors’ report has to be verified and approved by the applicant. Any differences between the assessors’ report of the factual data and the applicant’s version of these facts needs to be explained and documented by the applicant within five (5) working days of receiving the report. Applicants will be allowed to submit a one-time change to the factual data in the assessor’s report.

e) If an I.S.P. application is denied, the applicant may follow the approved appeal process.

Procedures:

a) The applicant needs to complete the I.S.P. application form. The applicant must attach a brief résumé to the I.S.P. application. This résumé needs to note, as a minimum, the following information for each held position:

  1. Employer’s name
  2. Employer’s address
  3. Position title (s)
  4. Manager’s name (if known)
  5. Manager’s telephone number (if known)

b) The Office of the Registrar processes the I.S.P. application.

  1. Applicant is notified that the I.S.P. application has been received;
  2. Office of the Registrar assigns two assessors;
  3. A mutually agreeable date and time is set for the interview; and
  4. A conference call is set up and participants are notified of the details.

c) The assessors’ report will be sent by e-mail or fax to the I.S.P. applicant for verification of factual data. The I.S.P. applicant needs to approve and sign back the report to the Office of the Registrar within five (5) working days after receiving the report.

d) If the I.S.P. applicant does not agree with the assessors’ factual data in the report, then the perceived discrepancies need to be communicated in writing (i.e. by mail, e-mail or fax) to the Office of the Registrar within five (5) working days after receiving the report noting the specific differences.

e) The final assessment is reviewed by the Office of the Registrar who will make the final decision on the application and inform the applicant of the decision.
