Two separate and autonomous Councils in CIPS are responsible for the review and accreditation of baccalaureate university programs.

The Computer Science Accreditation Council (CSAC) is the lead Council in CIPS responsible for formulating and maintaining high educational standards for Canadian universities offering undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering and the review and accreditation of these programs.

The Information Systems and Technology Accreditation Council (ISTAC) is the lead Council responsible for formulating and maintaining the standards for undergraduate degrees in the areas of C.I.S., I.M., I.T., I.R.M, and M.I.S.

Note: CIPS at the moment is not accepting applications for undergraduate MIS program accreditation. We are actively examining the MIS accreditation criteria and process at this time, and will reinstate the application process when this review has been completed. Web Template for Accreditation Materials [ZIP]

(Note: To assist schools in the preparation of the accreditation materials we have developed a website template. This website template can be used to present your application for CIPS Accreditation in a compact form, eliminating or reducing the need for paper documents. Many of the documents required for an accreditation application are likely to be available on-line at your school, in which case you can simply include appropriate URLs. Documents not available on-line can be scanned and converted to PDFs if they are small enough to make that feasible. Large documents not available on-line will have to be sent to CIPS in paper form. We encourage schools to either host the accreditation materials on a password protected intranet site or to make them available on CD ROM.
