Dr. Ronald E. George Ph.D., P.Eng., Hon. FCIPS, I.S.P. (ret.)
  • Private consultant, specializing in the management of computing technology, and technology commercialization.
  • Acts as a “mentor” to executives of high technology companies including chairing their Advisory Boards and serving as a Board member.
  • One of 5 members of Peter C. Newman’s “Calgary Techie Titans”.
  • Founding President, CEO, and Vice Chairman of ACTC Technologies Inc., a custom software engineering company.
  •  Previously, Dr. George was Professor of Computer Science and Director of Academic Computing at The University of Calgary. He has a Ph.D. in Management Sciences from The University of Waterloo and a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Saskatchewan.
  • Previously an Executive in Residence in the Faculty of Management, University of Calgary where he specialized in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Information Technology, and teaches an MBA course in Technology Commercialization.
  •  A founding member and Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Government Computer Centre from 1962 to 1971. The Center was turned into a crown corporation in the mid 1970’s and ultimately became a root of IBM Global (ISM) in Canada.
  •  He is on the board of directors of a number of private and public organizations and has been active in the computer societies in Canada, including serving on national and local executives of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS).
  • Past President of CIPS (Alberta). 
  • Past member of the National Board of Directors of CATA (Canadian Advanced Technology Association) and of the National and International Boards of AFCEA (the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association). He has served on the University of Calgary, Faculty of Management’s Advisory Board.
  • He is on the Board of Directors (Past Chairman) of FaithLife Insurance, the Board of Regents of Concordia University College (past), Edmonton, and IVRNet Technology Corp. He was a member of the Council (Board of Directors) of AESO (the Alberta ISO). He has served the community as a Board member of University Technologies International (UTI) and as a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Calgary Technologies Inc.
  • A member of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Hemophilia Foundation, and a member of the World Hemophilia Action Group (WHO). .
  • Past member of the Rotary Club of Calgary.
  • Served as President of the Canadian Hemophilia Society


Ron has received the following awards:

  • Nominated in 1997 as “Entrepreneur of the Year” in the Prairie Region.
  •  Inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame for international and national level competition in rifle shooting and in the administration of the sport.
  • Honorary Life Membership in the Canadian Hemophilia Society.
  • He has a Member of Distinction Award, Professional Achievement Award (1990), and an Honorary Life Membership (1998), Fellow status (2013) from CIPS for service to the computing industry.
  • Queen’s Jubilee Medal for life time volunteer service.
