Technical Resources Program Manager, IBM Software Development Laboratory, Joanne Moore

Joanne Moore is currently the Technical Resources Program Manager within the IBM Toronto Software Development Laboratory. She works with a team of representatives from across the various IBM sites around the world. Joanne's three primary responsibilities are to attract the best and brightest to IBM, to develop and equip employees with the appropriate skills, education and training, and to retain them.

Joanne began her career with IBM in the physical and information asset security area, and was one of the first IT professionals to develop and implement anti-virus tools in the PC environment. In her fifth year with IBM, she became a manager and was responsible for both Systems Security and Administration within the Toronto Software Development Lab and Manufacturing environment. From there, Joanne became a Lab IT manager and was responsible for Cross Platform Services which included moving from a glass house or mainframe environment to client server and LAN technologies and frameworks. She was then given the opportunity to move into an assignment role as the Technical Assistant to the Director of the Toronto Software Lab and Vice- President of Application Development. After having her second child, she joined the Human Resources team as an HR Operations Manager. Recently, having decided that she wanted to spend more time with her two daughters, ages 10 and 6, she began working as a regular part-time employee. Joanne utilizes IBM's flexi-place work environment to manage her current Technical Resources responsibilities.

Joanne likes to travel, and spend time with her family. She plays and coaches Ringette, and soccer and volunteers at her childrens' school. She is also actively involved in promoting and conducting Women in Technology (WIT) workshops for teachers and girls.
