Cost-Effective Security Controls: Maximizing Your Investment
Lionel Cochey, CISSP, CRISC, CISM
Senior Manager - Technology Risk Services, MNP
An ever-increasing number of organizations understand the value of having strong security controls in place to protect their operations against security risks. News of attacks and data beaches are constantly reported - i.e., Sony, Nortel, Global Payments - to name but a few. With limited budget and a focus on cost, is there a way to be protected without investing in complex and expensive security controls and solutions? Can it be possible that simple but often overlooked controls can prevent most of the common attacks?
The question becomes: How to prioritize security investments in order to balance efficiency with operations costs? In this presentation we will review some simple ways of implementing robust and efficient, yet cost-effective security controls.
