Professionalism: What is it? How does it apply to IT?
Join us as Bill Turgeon addresses these questions and discusses the ethics involved in IT including: a practitioner's responsibilities - both legal and moral, the need for a common code of ethics and the CIPS Code of Ethics.
Bill Turgeon has been in the IT industry since the 1970s. Since then, he has been involved in the IT industry as a Professional Consultant, Senior Systems Engineer and Technical Architect. He currently contracts as ComputerWise Consulting Inc., primarily to other consulting firms that have need of high-end technical expertise and specializes primarily in system security, troubleshooting, analysis and re-design.
Bill is a core systems specialist dealing with operating systems, Active Directory Services and specialized servers such as Exchange Servers, SQL servers and OCS. Included in his areas of competency are: planning and developing automated OS deployments and acting as a troubleshooting and remediation specialist dealing with system problems including recovery from malware and Day 0 events.
Bill has a BSc. degree in Computer Engineering and holds most of the Microsoft Professional certifications. He is also ITIL certified and is working to complete his Master’s degree in Information Systems at Athabasca University.
In addition to being a Director for CIPS Alberta, Bill is also the Vice-President of Calgary IT Pro group. He also served for three years on the Public Policy Committee for CompTIA Canada.
