The Challenge of IT Leadership: Creating your own Future
Craigg Ballance, Course Director, Leaders Beyond Inc.
Technology professionals are increasingly under pressure to cut costs, simplify process, improve productivity and return measurable value for their organizations. Along with all these demands, the mantra of "align with the business" often seems like a futile and confusing strategy. Why is it so difficult to find the way through the maze of advice and approaches? What is it that IT professionals need to do in order increase their odds for success?
Craigg Ballance has managed or led advanced technology enabled initiatives for more than 25 years and has been involved with many innovative projects during his career. Most recently, his focus has been toward the development of greater understanding between business and technology leadership - and linking expertise and experience to achieve positive outcomes. He is the co-author of three books: Electronic Commerce Relationships: Trust by Design (Prentice Hall, 2000), focused on building trust, security and effective control in electronic commerce; On-Line Profits: A Manager’s Guide to Electronic Commerce (Harvard Business Press, 1997); and Electronic Commerce and EDI in the Financial Industry (Lafferty Publications, 1996). His experience is sought around the world, having worked in such places as Ireland, Chile, South Africa, the Middle East, Suriname, the Caribbean and Mexico, as well as Canada and the United States.
