Blog: CIPS Chair Update of the Week (Sept 4th)

I hope everyone had a restful long weekend.  So let's get back at it and dig into those objectives for the week.  As I mentioned last week we presented the new budget and operational changes to the National Board representatives.  They have a lot to discuss with their provincial boards, we hope to reconvene the week of September 20th.  The other exciting news is that George Boyton, Stephen Ibaraki, and myself are off to the IFIP World Computer Congress (http://www.wcc-2012.org/programme-outline.php) and the IP3 AGM and Board meetings  (http://www.ipthree.org/about-ip3) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Sept 24th - 28th, 2012.  This will be at very little or no cost to CIPS but will provide an amazing international connections opportunity.  I hope to meet the IFIP and ACS-Australian Computer Society presidents to ensure they are aware of the great depth of expertise Canadians have.  Also it will be nice to talk about the IT Body of Knowledge work CIPS is partnering with IEEE-CS and ACS on.  We often forget how well respected Canadians are and how interested IT professionals are in the Canadian IT industry.   There will be much more to come on this, I think a webinar on my experiences at the World Computer Congress sometime in November would be in order.

Sincerely,

Brenda Byers, I.S.P., ITCP

Chair, CIPS National Board
